STEVE CLAYTON - JOINT LEADER

Steve says" by 50 " I had it all" - a successful, wealthy
management consultant; great family and friends; loads of stuff.
But it always seemed empty somehow, and deep down I really
didn't like the person I was."
Up until then I'd rather sneered at Christianity - thought it
was a kind of crutch for people who couldn't cope. But I really
knew nothing about it...until I went on an Alpha Course - a fun
non-churchy experience, where I got to ask all the questions I
had. It transformed me hugely for the better!
I found real meaning to life; a real sense of peace and joy; and
a complete sense of being loved and accepted. I found real life!
I've been sharing with others this message ever since: that God
loves you, as you are; that He's passionate about you, and wants
you in HIS family...that He has the best possible plan for your
life, if you'll co-operate!
Now, 8 years on, it is great to be part
of the leadership of a fresh expression of the church. A church
where all are welcome (no matter who they are or what they've
done)regardless of background and current beliefs. A church that
exists to serve its community (not the other way round).

Like Steve, for most of my life I had nothing to do with
Christianity. I had a really rather patronising attitude, it was
only for weak people who needed a crutch! When I experienced
God's love and acceptance for myself, I realised that God is
there all of the time, for all of us, in the good times and the
bad. Yes, we can lean on Him, but he is so much more that a
crutch. He can give us the freedom to be the person we were
supposed to be. For me, it is an amazing privilege to be part of
the team at Reality Christianity. Amazing because it seems so
unlikely that God would choose me! I am usually to be found in
the kitchen, but have been known to support Steve with His
evangelical work, having a great interest myself in telling
others the 'Good News'. I am married to Steve and have two grown
up children; Helen who is 29 and Anthony who's 26.
